WE CONTINUE TO BE OPEN FOR TELEPHONE TRIAGE AND THEN, IF DEEMED NECESSARY, A FACE TO FACE APPOINTMENT.
WE ARE GIVING ADVICE AND/OR URGENT CARE AS WELL AS ROUTINE CHECK-UPS.
WE ARE STILL AVOIDING CARRYING OUT ROUTINE TREATMENTS WHICH CREATE A SPRAY. THESE SPRAYS OR AEROSOLS CAN CARRY AND SPREAD THE VIRUS. FILLINGS AND ELECTRONIC CLEANING ARE HIGH-RISK PROCEDURES, THEREFORE WE ARE ONLY USING DRILLS FOR URGENT TREATMENTS. REMOVING PLAQUE AND TARTAR (CLEANS) WITH HAND INSTRUMENTS WILL BE THE NORM WHILE THE COVID RISK LEVELS ARE HIGH, SO THAT WE CAN ENSURE THAT WE KEEP YOU SAFE.
WE ARE STILL CANCELLING SOME APPOINTMENTS AS WE ARE PRIORITISING PATIENTS WITH URGENT CARE & SEE FEWER PATIENTS PER DAY DUE TO MANDATORY DISTANCING MEASURES. WE ARE PERFORMING URGENT AND AS MUCH ESSENTIAL CARE AS POSSIBLE. TO ENABLE US TO DO THIS WE NEED TO FREE UP THE APPOINTMENT BOOKS. PLEASE BEAR WITH US, IF YOU HAVE HAD YOUR APPOINTMENT CANCELLED, WE WILL BE IN TOUCH AS SOON AS WE CAN TO GET YOU BOOKED IN AND SEEN AGAIN.
WHAT CLASSES AS URGENT CARE?
EMERGENCY OR URGENT CARE INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
SEVERE CONTINUOUS BLEEDING
WE ARE MAINTAINING TELEPHONE CONSULTATIONS TO ENABLE US TO ASSESS MORE PATIENTS, MORE QUICKLY, IN THE SAFEST POSSIBLE WAY.
WE ARE WORKING THROUGH OUR LISTS OF PATIENTS WITH URGENT NEEDS AND PRIORITISING THE ONES WHO WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF TREATMENT OR HAD PROBLEMS WHILE WE WERE CLOSED. REST ASSURED THAT WE ARE WORKING HARD TO CLEAR THE BACKLOG AND NOW ARE OFFERING MORE ROUTINE APPOINTMENTS THAN THE PAST FEW MONTHS.
IF YOU ARE NOT SURE IF YOU NEED IS URGENT OR ESSENTIAL THEN PLEASE DO CONTACT OUR RECEPTION TEAM TO DISCUSS – OUR DENTISTS ARE AVAILABLE TO CARRY OUT A TELEPHONE CONSULTATION IF NECESSARY – WE WILL BE GLAD TO HELP.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU HERE AGAIN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
LOVE AND BEST WISHES,
RESHMA SHAH AND TEAM ADCC XXX
NEW PATIENT JOURNEY
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
We will send key information, including your appointment time/date and what to do when you arrive. Please contact us if you have any queries about your visit to us.
We ask you to cancel your appointment in advance if having any Covid symptoms & self-isolate & get tested.
ON THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT
Before you depart for the practice, we ask that you have already visited the lavatory, have ensured that you are hydrated and already brushed your teeth. It is important that you bring minimal belongings to the practice so please ensure you only bring necessary items with you; include a face mask & sanitiser.
When you arrive outside, don your face mask then sanitise your hands before entering. There is sanitiser in practice too, if required. To minimise risk, please ensure you attend your appointment alone unless you require assistance or are accompanying a child or someone vulnerable. We are encouraging card payments only so where possible, please do not arrive with cash.
ENTERING THE PRACTICE
Please enter the practice as close to your appointment time as possible except for treatment appointments, enter 10 minutes early.
Once you have come into reception, sanitise your hands again. Read the Covid questionnaire sign on the desk and tell the receptionist your answers.
Our practice colleagues will wear masks & protective face visors & are minimising chat for the safety of everyone. You will then be guided to the appropriate treatment room.
Upon entering the treatment room, place any loose belongings like your coat or bag on the designated chair/hook provided. Our teams will be wearing extra Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as in order to provide you with the right care and service, they cannot adhere to social distancing recommendations. Especially for fillings, this means that it is more difficult to see our colleagues and clinicians’ faces, but please be reassured that they will be the usually friendly team. Naturally we are also ensuring that each treatment room is carefully cleaned and disinfected after each patient.
Currently we are providing examinations, scaling (gum cleaning) by hand, temporary fillings and simple extractions. We are doing fillings & other treatments only when necessary, as very high Covid risk.
AFTER THE APPOINTMENT
When your treatment is complete, put on your face mask, then collect your belongings from the chair outside the treatment room door. We will require payment ideally by card, using our freshly disinfected card machines.
Before you leave the practice, you will be given hand sanitiser one last time, before we say goodbye. If you have any lengthy questions after the appointment, we will be able to call you to discuss this further as our aim is to minimise your time in the practice, for your own safety.
WELCOMING YOU BACK SAFELY
We hope that the above reassures you when visiting us that every step has been taken to ensure the safety of you, our colleagues and clinicians. This is our priority as we begin reopening our doors and return to providing you with the same standard of dental care that you have been used to.
If you have any questions at all regarding our new practice experience, please do not hesitate to contact us.

COME & SEE FOR YOURSELF
We are a small, friendly practice with many longstanding patients. Our speciality is getting to know our patients so that we can make every visit a pleasant one.
Can you believe I look forward to going to the dentist now? Not only is Reshma and her team extremely warm, compassionate and welcoming, but the quality of care is superb. I went initially to get a second opinion after another dentist told me I needed 11 fillings. Dr Shah gave me just one and advised me on ways to help the others to heal naturally and it's been working a treat. Incredible! I'm beyond grateful for the quality of care provided here. Highly recommended!
DR V. HECKERT
As a family we have been to this highly professional practice for many years and have always received top quality treatment and dental advice. A caring, friendly approach and attention to detail have always been given high priority here. If It was possible to give a 6 star rating I would give it! Dr Shah in particular is a highly experienced and skilled dentist and I would recommend her and her welcoming team to everyone.
MR M. POTTER
I've been going to Abbeydale Dental Care for about half a year now, since my old dentists' stopped seeing NHS patients. I've had a root canal treatment and other minor treatments and am really impressed by all the dentists and the nurses at the practice. The receptionists are polite and always happy to help when I've had to change my appointments.
The NHS treatment here is excellent, and the staff have always taken their time to explain my options to me and which course of treatment they would advise as best - but in an impartial manner so I can always make my own informed decision. I have also had excellent additional private treatment. Overall, a great practice: wonderful staff, clean surroundings, professional treatment.
MR A. LESH
Every aspect of the practice from reception to dental treatment is first class. Reception staff are and always have been courteous and friendly. The treatment room staff compliment their skills with lighthearted chat which helps to make the visit pleasant and stress free. The reception area is clean and tidy and has an excellent range of reading material. The treatment room is also spotlessly clean.
I also get a text reminder of my appointment which is most helpful and can usually get in quickly if I have a problem. Brilliant, keep it up.
MR P. BAXTER
Fantastic practice! Really go the extra mile to help you! Used to hate going to the dentist, was petrified. But now I just take it in my stride knowing how helpful and understanding the staff are! Thank you!
